Imperiled by Alexander Hans Schmitt with Vonnie Schmitt

I'm excited to share my debut novel with you. It is a fast-paced, action-packed, epic space adventure that grips you with each chapter—a real page-turner.

The Book

The story follows Junior Commander Anaiya Sonra as she is pushed towards the edge after discovering she has been accused of smuggling. Her career gone, she made unlikely choices and formed a mirrored crew on a quest to find the truth.

It's a fight for redemption in a galaxy-wide adventure with starships, battles, and discovery.

Analysis

The author is talented in his storytelling.

While fast-paced, the transitions between chapters were confusing but intriguing. Each page held something new to discover, and each ideal, discovery, and heartbreak of the encounters with new people and groups tore into your soul, wanting more.

Power and corruption are the main themes in this story. The novel explores the consequences of unchecked authority and the dangers of political manipulation.

The character development of the main and side characters showed that much thought was put into the story. However, in my opinion, the main character in her quest is a Jane Doe.

3/5

I enjoyed the tension and dynamic action of detailed and engaging space battles. This appeals to both casual readers and hardcore sci-fi fans. The strengths go into the depth of the characters and how they navigate their problems.

Weaknesses include how predictable the action sequences and characters are. The lack of resilience and interest bored me but might interest others.

I recommend this book to those looking for adventure and an interest in a world of corruption and mystery. With the space opera vibe, the tension and suspense would carry you deep into the story. My 3/5 stars are highly recommended, but it wasn't exceptional and didn't live up to what I thought it would be.
