Rust & Quill Bookmobile

One thing that I've been working on behind the scenes is my very own bookmobile. It's a rustic-themed, literary mobile focused on indie and small-press authors.
The Beginning

It didn't start as a polished idea. What started as a scribble of ideas in a notebook, a half-joking "what if", and a stubborn belief that books deserve better than being lost in the algorithm of BookTok and Bookstagram. Before the idea of the bookmobile, there was just my mother and me with a stack of indie books I just had to read or couldn't stop talking about.
Now, people ask about the name. I've always wanted to use the name; it just came to me one day years ago (in other words, I really don't remember the story behind it).
Behind the Scenes
While I don't have a trailer quite yet, it is still a traveling book 'retail'. Retail in quotes as I work on a consignment-based option with my authors.

My mother and I make book covers, Kindle cases, and even totes, so as I'm building up, most of which come from other fabric we've had lying around the house.
Running Rust & Quill now is more than I expected. I have to find vendor spots, email the said vendors, set up a good-enough table (and rearrange it for the 100th time), build blind dates with a book, and continue crafting my items on a regular basis. All of which, while in college with a part-time job.
Why I Want to do This
Because stories change people. Because authors deserve that spotlight. Because there's something scared about handing someone a book and watching their face light up. Because the world feels softer when we slow down long enough to read.
Finally
Rust & Quill is still growing, still shifting, still becoming. And honestly? I love that. It means there’s room for new ideas, new shelves, new voices, new stories.

Wherever the bookmobile goes next, the heart stays the same:
This is a place for people who love stories — and for the stories that haven’t found their people yet. How to Apply
